「The Virgin and Child」

過去2回、チェコとオーストラリアでの木彫刻キャンプに参加した際観光で訪れたイタリアはローマ、フィレンツェの教会のマリア像等、彫刻群に魅了される。
「いつか彫ってみたい！」
現在の日本は少子高齢化、富山県も例外ではなく伝統工芸の地元では後継者不足と商品の売れ行きは一部低迷。
今回のサブテーマは「希望」なので子供が増える事と彫ってみたい希望を託して聖母子像に挑戦しました。

I was enchanted with the statues such as the one of Mary in the churches of Rome and Florence while I visited Italy for sightseeing when I participated in wood sculpture camps in the Czech Republic and Australia twice in the past.
Today, Japan has a declining birthrate and aging population, and Toyama Prefecture is no exception. The locals of traditional art work suffer from the lack of successors and sluggish sales of some products. The sub-theme of this time is "hope", so I challenged the statue of the Virgin and Child with the hope that there would be more children and the wish to carve it.
